Filtering without borders
Tops (part of Interduct) is a specialist in filters for HVAC, industrial applications and cleanrooms. With customers in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Austria — both business and consumer — the webshop had outgrown its previous solution. At the end of 2023 we started a complete modernisation.
The project started with a takeover of an existing Magento 2 shop built by another agency. We reviewed the codebase, cleared technical debt and set up a solid CI/CD pipeline via GitLab — including review environments for every merge request.
The Luma frontend had already been replaced by Hyvä by the previous agency, which made the shop noticeably faster right away. On top of that we built a fully styled Hyvä Checkout with address validation, VAT verification for business customers and DPD integration for shipping.
International, but locally relevant
Tops serves four countries in multiple languages. We set up a multi-store structure with separate store views for NL, BE, DE and AT — each with its own language, currency, VAT rules and payment methods. A language switcher in the header makes switching effortless. Payment methods via Mollie are displayed correctly per country.
Smarter search and filtering
With ElasticSuite as the search engine we built advanced filter navigation, autocomplete with product images and search query normalisation. Customers search by article code, product name or supplier code and immediately find the right filter — even in a catalogue with thousands of products.
Product data via Skwirrel
Products are imported via Skwirrel, the PIM connector that synchronises the catalogue. We built custom actions to exclude grouped products, import supplier codes and automatically assign products to the correct categories and websites.
More than a webshop
Channable handles product feeds to external channels. Amasty manages order exports. Returnless processes returns. Fooman generates PDF invoices with the correct VAT percentages per country. And with Sentry and Oh Dear we monitor the shop proactively.
Continuous improvement
With Varify we run A/B tests to optimise conversion. Via Google Tag Manager we measure behaviour in the checkout and on product pages. And with regular Magento upgrades — from 2.4.6 to 2.4.8 — we keep the platform secure and up to date.
